Launch Your Invention Through Licensing

Our proprietary Design for Licensing strategy utilizes a proven system that seeks to maximize your success while minimizing out-of-pocket expense.

Product Development

Professionally developed engineering drawings and Computer Aided Design (CAD) are the basis for getting an invention idea developed. At Whatz Up Products , our industrial designers and engineers can develop the files necessary so that a manufacturer can tool-up or so that you can professionally pitch your product to licensees or investors.

  Licensing

Licensing your invention idea involves collaborating with companies well positioned to commercialize your product and pay a royalty. Whatz Up Products can leverage the product development to tailor a design package that attracts companies who will license your invention and pay you royalties.

  Marketing

From professionally designed sell sheets to product animation demonstrations, Whatz Up Products can prepare the materials to make an impact in your presentation. From retailers to customers, licensees to investors, our work will give your product a professional appearance that will capture attention.

 Prototyping

Getting samples for presentations or proof of concept is a crucial step to test how a product will function, as well as survey interest from potential customers or licensees. Whatz Up Products has the capabilities of making you a part through the use of the best technologies in rapid prototyping, from stereo lithography (SLA), fused deposition modeling, and more.

  Manufacturing Sourcing

Finding a source to manufacture a quality product at low prices and with reasonable terms is one of the most challenging aspects to commercializing a product. Sourcing is of utmost strategic importance and can make or break a product’s success.

Step 1. Contact Whatz Up Products

Either email us or call so that we can discuss your specific goals for your invention or new product. Otherwise, please feel free to provide the details of your invention by submitting it through our online form for a free review. The Nondisclosure Agreement is incorporated into the submission process so confidentiality is guaranteed.

Step 2. Patent Search

We recommend that you perform a patent search on your invention to insure that it hasn't already been patented by someone else. You can perform the search with your attorney or utilize Whatz Up Products.

Step 3. Select Package or Request a Quote

There are several packages designed to help you reach your goals, otherwise for more extensive work, such as engineering, prototyping or manufacturing sourcing, please contact us to discuss in detail for a tailored quote. The packages are designed with the inventor in mind, to help them visualize their products and capture interest from investors or a licensee.

Step 4. Formalize Design Contract

Once you’ve selected your package, we will formally detail out the deliverables, estimated timeline and terms and conditions in our contract. Generally payments are made on 50/50 terms (50% at execution of the contract and 50% due upon completion/delivery) however larger projects, such as prototypes, are divided into phases with benchmarks to maintain transparency and insure project delivery. Payment plans may also be established after completion of a membership fee.

Step 5. Design Work Performed, Reviewed and Revised

Whatz Up Products will develop your invention and provide you with updates upon completion of each step or phase. You work directly with your lead designer to insure that the designs are exactly as you want them.

Step 6. Completion and Delivery

Once all revisions are complete, we will provide your final design work in various file formats for your use in promotion or manufacturing. Product design work will be supplied in JPG, PNG and PDF for your use online or for printing, and the 3D CAD will be supplied in IGES, ACIS and SAT to allow you to work with manufacturers directly.

Step 7. File the Provisional Patent Application

Once the design work is completed, file the Provisional Patent Application, which gives you 12-months of "patent-pending" status. This allows you to begin disclosing your invention to the marketplace to determine interest. This may be done through your own attorney or you can utilize Whatz Up Products.
